Post-workshop insights · EC3 Cluster
Drawing on experiences from collaborative workshops in the context of the EC3 cluster, we have identified several pathways for sustaining cooperation between organizations with aligned interests in order to keep the collaboration alive over time:
- Technical Integration of Complementary Solutions
One of the most immediate opportunities is exploring how cybersecurity capabilities — which, in isolation, offer limited value — can be combined into products or services with broader functional coverage. This involves assessing compatibility, defining common interfaces, and developing reusable tool combinations.
- Joint Research and Collaborative Innovation
Shared technical challenges provide a strong foundation for continuing to work together. Joint research activities, experimentation, and the development of shared roadmaps allow solutions to mature well beyond the scope of any single project.
- Pilots and Demonstrators in Real-World Environments
Validating combined technologies in operational environments increases credibility and market readiness. Joint demonstrators, proof-of-concept activities, and pilots with prospective users generate tangible evidence of technical and operational value.
- Industry Engagement
Identifying industrial applications, prospective users, and market-relevant validation opportunities is key to ensuring solutions reach their intended audience. Dialogue with companies, technology showcases, and the exploration of service or partnership models open the door to real-world adoption.
- Knowledge Transfer and Training
Sharing technical knowledge through training sessions, workshops, webinars, and reusable materials broadens the reach of the work done and builds competences across the user and stakeholder community.
- Open Source and Community-Based Ecosystems
Releasing suitable components under open licences, engaging with technical communities, and maintaining reusable libraries drive wider uptake, external contributions, and long-term accessibility of results.
- Long-Term Collaboration Frameworks
The elaboration of a post-project roadmap helps to define a shared vision, clarify roles and responsibilities, and establish bilateral or multilateral arrangements that provide continuity and predictability to the collaboration.
